The Chopin Nocturnes have always been of great importance in my musical development and my fundamental reference to Polish music within the 19th Century. I grew up listening to these works, being enchanted by the harmony, the melodic lines and embellishments hinting to the Polish folk songs that would eventually become Chopin’s legacy. I’ve decided to record each nocturne individually, allowing for a greater sense of detail and reflection to the phrasing and nuance, as these can sometimes be overlooked in a recital or studio album recording. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of the music in this Nocturne as it has been with me for a number of years both personally and in my public recitals.
